Youngstar was a $200,000 purchase from the Bowness Stud draft at the 2016 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.
Chris Waller Trained Youngstar at Rosehill for owners Unifaith Bloodstock (Mgr: A J Koolman), Archer Racing (Mgr: A A Inglis), Mrs C J Inglis, Mrs J Minahan, G Minahan, R Atra, Mrs C M A Atra, P C Shadbolt, Mrs K J Shadbolt, J K Sheather & Mrs K P Sheather. She had her maiden win at her 4th start as a three-year-old and had her Group 1 victory three starts later in the Queensland Oaks.
After her successful race career, Katsumi Yoshida purchased Youngstar (AUS) at the 2020 Chairman’s Sale for $1,400,000.00. Mr Yoshida would go on the following year to buy Youngstar’s sister Funstar.
Youngstar’s dam, Starspangled (IRE), has proven herself to be an exceptional broodmare producing the likes of Funstar and Eleven Seconds. At the same time, her Galileo daughter Baggy Green went on to deliver Group 1 winner Tofane. With several of Starspangled’s foals yet to hit the track, we will undoubtedly hear more from this family.
